Goblin Layer 0.58 Released! [New Update]
Randomly stumbled over this? Goblin Layer is a (nsfw) parody Adventure with a large cast of characters, humor, animations and more! Not to be confused with Goblin Slayer.
1. This new public update also includes 0.56.7.2.
My version numbering can be a bit esoteric, but basically the point is, these are two updates combined into one bigger public update.
2. By the way, check out this bundle! (It's called "Keep NSFW alive").
I'm in there as moral support, but it contains a bunch of paid games as well!
Anyway, the changelog for this important update is below! It's important both in terms of fixes, but also, it starts fleshing out the recent 'Physical Encouragement' mechanic, and adds new renders and animation, and also moves the main plot forward a bit, with a scene that sets up something that will become a turning point in the story! Also I've renovated two 'holiday specials', if you haven't played them before that's two new adventures/quests you can go on!
First is the changelog for 0.58 [redacted]-License Edition. (0.56.7.2 is below it)

Scenes/"Plot"
...............
Added Animation: Church Maiden "Idle" animation. Some squishing included.
Plays during normal dialogue. It's 184 frames, and 1 frame is 1 render. Which means, technically, you could say its 184 new renders.
It sounds impressive that way, doesn't it.
Added scene: Church Maiden demonstrates "Physical Encouragement"
Triggered in Church after Chapter 2, requires at least 1 Intimacy point with Priestess (Also added it to the cheat room)
Added scene(s?): A whole bunch of renders for the physical Encouragement skill (Priestess)
When you use the physical encouragement skill during combat. (Also added to the cheat room)
Each "Encouragement" variation has a 3-frame animation.
More info:
Most scenes in the game use either still images or pre-rendered animation in a movie format.
The encouragement scenes uses a loop of 3 renders.
It's possible I might extend it to something longer in the future, but for now this felt like the most effective way to implement it.
Since they're played during combat, I wanted something more lightweight that doesn't interrupt the flow too much.
The first time you use it will be slightly awkward, but Church Maiden will help you overcome that.

Scenes/Normal plot
...............
Added Main Story Cutscene: A certain group of Goblins discuss their plans for an upcoming attack
Plays just before you enter the Southern Frontier for the first time.
Added a side-story cutscene/dialogue: Elven holiday houses
Plays if you re-visit the burnt down Elven Hollow (the one from Chapter 2) AND Anvil is in the party.
...............
Gameplay
..............
Changed Church Maidens 2d face art a bit, to match the 3d Character
Changed Farm Girls 2d face art a bit, to match the 3d Character
New 2d sprite for Farm Girl, and others
Updated hall of fame
Updated cheat room
Made the text color slightly darker, for better readability
Created & implemented the 'logic' for the Physical Encouragement skill.
Created New combat animation for that skill.
Now you can select with attribute to buff
Can repeat the animation by pressing Z/Left Mouse.
Exit by presssing X/Right move.
Will increase your "intimacy score" with the party member you use it on, which in turn will unlock more "advanced" "encouragement" the higher the score is.
0 to 25 is currently implemented for Priestess. Will work on the others asap.

Dev Notes/Other Stuff I've been doing
...............
- It's not quite playable yet, but I've also gotten a fair bit of work done on Chapter 8. In terms of writing, "programming", eventing etc. The working name is "Farmland Saga".
- I've gotten everyone's favorite government-bureaucrat-Succubus prepared for animation in Blender. She's got a new pseudo-Mesopotamian look & there's a new scene on the way as well, involving her morning routine, and perhaps other things...
- Fixed up Anvil's model as well, including finalizing her new hair and such. She'll be slightly taller (longer legs) and also thicker (around the thighs) compared to before. The eye makeup will be a bit "smokier" or whatever its called as well. Partially for aesthetic reasons, but also for... 'safety' related reasons.
- Also done a lot of work on Goblina's model, to get her up and running.
- Came up with a better way to rig skirts/loincloth/hanging things, so I can animate characters with those faster and easier now. As it turns out there are multiple characters it'll help with.
- I've been tinkering a little with a small side-project in Renpy.
- It's too early to share any specific details though. If/when it turns into something playable I'll post it on the Patreon.
- I actually tinkered a bit with a thing in Unity before as well, but turns out its a bit too time-consuming. I just don't have enough hours free. But Renpy is faster to work with. Might circle back to Unity at some point in the future though.
- I noticed some small clipping in some renders after putting them in the game. It's nothing big though. I'll fix it next update.
And the second, 0.56.7.2 Twin Suns - Edition

Dev Note
.........
The Special adventures (New Year, Summer, Xmas I & II), are holiday specials I made before. If you've followed the game for a long time you've probably played the old versions.
They've not been upgraded to fit in with the new (2d) artstyle and gameplay.
But if you're a recent arrival, there should be a lot of new content for you!

During the Xmas special II, when trying to open the Green Calendar
Then, progressing the quest, after getting out of the inn (hubtown calendar portion), then trying to follow the footsteps outside:
Great game, love the humor!
Thanks for reporting, though the green calendar thing shouldn't happen... is it a fresh save or an older save?I'll check it out anyway
Relatively fresh, I'd say, started with v0.57.5, but never read the Xmas specials before (if that was the question).Didn't start a new game though.
Ok, no problem, I actually found the issues. Will upload some fixes shortly!
